Branding

Identity design as a transformative process

The process of branding or identity design requires deep consideration. Symbols are the oldest language of human kind. Developing a logo with intention is a powerful way to communicate an idea beyond words.

Visual languages can help bring a idea into a reality by providing a kind of scaffold or container for exploration and expression. In my experience, the process of creating a logo can open the doorway for deeper questions surrounding purpose, voice, authenticity and how one wants to be seen by others and what one wants to show. I facilitate a process that empowers people to embrace an aesthetic that is meaningful for them.

Atyene, which means 'precious' in the Arrernte language of Central Australia, is a 100% First Nations-owned fashion label founded by Rachel Perkins.

I created a symbol with Rachel’s guidance that captures the sense of preciousness she wanted to convey through the brand. The logo resembles an ‘A’ and someone sitting, holding a star.

Scrub Landscapes design, construct and maintain native gardens in Castlemaine and surrounds. Their brand reflects their appreciation for the local colours, attention to detail through soft illustrations, and lines that wander like garden paths.

Our Community Shed wanted a vibrant and friendly brand that could speak to Tennant Creek locals. The ‘critters’ that I illustrated capture the spirit of what the shed is cultivating. They have been embraced by the community as much loved brand ambassadors.
